About

Jo is a product designer, crafter and aspiring artisan potter from Singapore. She has a penchant for traditional mediums of craft like woodworking and pottery, and finds value in products made with quality materials, honest effort and good craftsmanship.

She laments that in the current digital age, the value and priority given to traditionally produced handmade products has diminished. She hopes to be part of the generation of young Singaporean artists that will bring about a revival of traditional craft and design.

Jo has some experience teaching pottery, having conducted a hand-building workshop at NIE and teaching beginner wheel-throwing classes at local pottery studios. A largely self-taught potter, her discovery of the medium of clay was largely coincidental, having joined a good friend in their first pottery class at their request. She found working with clay being rather therapeutic and a form of catharsis, significantly helping her cope with anxiety and the stresses of daily life.

Jo is a graduate of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) School of Art, Design and Media (ADM), with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Product Design.
