Textiles/Material Design

Above are some of the techniques experimented with.

Organza cloth with marbles and stones tied into the fabric and then boiled to retain the shape (red cloth in vase)

Heat fusing plastic bags into a patchwork-esque material (handheld fan)

Reverse tie-dyed cloth using bleach (drawstring pouch)

Felting and knitting samples

The entire frame and construction comprises no glue, instead using interlocking pieces and friction fitting.

Several rounds of trial and error were required to get the pieces to fit perfectly. The butterfly wing elements on the bottom and top can be adjusted into open or closed arrangement.
